- To invoice and keep accounts: issue invoices and keep the records required by law. Legal basis: our legal obligations.
- To keep the Website secure and enforce the subscription terms: detect shared accounts, abnormal downloads or misuse of the API. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in protecting the service and its content.

We do not sell personal data and do not use it for advertising.
Who receives it
Personal data are accessible to the staff of EmergingTextiles who need them for the purposes above, and to the service providers acting on our behalf: hosting of the Website, payment processing (Stripe), e-mail delivery and audience measurement (Google Analytics). These providers process data on our instructions and may not use them for their own purposes, with the exception of Google, which processes audience measurement data under its own terms (see "Cookies").
Some providers are located in the United States. Where data are transferred outside the European Economic Area, we rely on the safeguards provided for by the GDPR, such as an adequacy decision or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
We may also disclose data where the law requires it, for instance to tax authorities or on a court order.
How long we keep it
- Account and preference data: for the life of the account, then up to three years after the last sign-in or the end of the subscription, after which the account is deleted.
- Billing data: ten years from the end of the financial year, as required by French accounting law.
- Usage data and server logs: up to twelve months.
- Correspondence: three years after the last exchange.
Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 and the French Data Protection Act, you may ask to access the data we hold about you, to have them rectified or erased, to restrict or object to their processing, and to receive them in a portable format. You may also set directions for your data after your death. To exercise these rights, write to [contact e-mail address] or use the Contact Us page; we may ask you to confirm your identity. We answer within one month.
You may also lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL (www.cnil.fr).
Cookies
The Website uses three kinds of cookies:
- Cookies necessary to sign in and keep your session open, set by WordPress and by our membership system. They are required for the Website to work for subscribers.
- Cookies set by our payment provider, Stripe, on the checkout page only, for fraud prevention.
- Audience measurement cookies set by Google Analytics, which help us understand how the Website is used (pages visited, time spent, country of origin). Google processes these data under its own privacy policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy, and offers a browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics.
You can refuse or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. Blocking the necessary cookies prevents signing in.
E-mails
E-mail alerts are sent only for the topics you have selected. You can change or stop them at any time on the Email Alerts page of your account. Service messages such as invoices, renewal reminders and security notices are sent to the account's e-mail address for the duration of the subscription.
Security
The Website is served over HTTPS. Passwords are stored in encrypted form and are never sent to you in clear text. Access to personal data is limited to the people and providers who need it, and the Website is backed up regularly. No system is entirely secure, and you are responsible for keeping your login details confidential.
