Polyester fiber and yarn prices rose everywhere in the past month, with margins of spinners moving differently in China, India, and Pakistan. Our monthly report compares polyester staple fiber prices and polyester spun yarn prices in China, India, and Pakistan in both local currency terms and US$ terms. The gross margins of spinners are also calculated. Historical data back to 2007 are available for download.
EU Clothing Imports: Markets
German clothing imports continued plunging in the third quarter, reflecting the negative impact of the Brexit, whereas the pandemic also took its toll on shipments from outside the European Union. Our 5-year data cover the third quarter and the first three quarters over the last five years from 2016. The report reflects long-term European Union clothing market trends, offering a comprehensive review of the EU's imports per destination. The UK is excluded. Minimum Wages in Apparel Manufacturing Countries
Minimum wages have been slightly increased or were kept unchanged in apparel manufacturing countries, as of January 1st. The pandemic continues limiting any improvement in social standards at apparel plants, as exporters try preserving their competitive advantages. Our report displays minimum wages in low-cost apparel manufacturing countries in Asia, from January 2015 to January 2022, in local currency and US$ terms. A 6-year comparison is available in local currency terms, 2015 US$ terms, and nominal US$ terms. Minimum wages in China are also displayed.
