Minimum Wages in Apparel Manufacturing Countries
Minimum wages have not been raised in most low-income countries although food and energy prices are boosted by the climate crisis and the war in Ukraine. Our report displays minimum wages in low-cost apparel manufacturing countries in Asia, from January 2015 to September 2022, in local currency and US$ terms. A 7-year comparison is available in local currency terms, 2015 US$ terms, and nominal US$ terms.

Vietnam already dethroned China in many product categories of the US apparel import market, especially in dollar terms, with Bangladesh and India also threatening the traditional leader. Bangladesh Apparel Exports (Country Report)
Apparel exports from Bangladesh surged in the past months from their level last year, but also from the pre-pandemic period, as the low-cost country benefits from a shift in US demand out of China. Our statistical series provide a comprehensive view of Bangladesh's clothing exports in Q1 2018-22, including volume, value, and unit value changes per destination. Annual change per destination in the past months is supplied. Data also include US and EU clothing imports from Bangladesh per product category. All data are available for download.
