EU clothing imports rebounded in the first half this year with sharp differences in results depending on origins and product categories. Our series of statistical tables offer a comprehensive comparison of volume, value, and unit value changes per origin and product category in H1 2022. The report also includes a detailed comparison of unit prices through a series of indexes. Unit value changes in percentage terms and market shares per category and per origin are also released. Minimum Wages in Apparel Manufacturing Countries
Food inflation is set to accelerate globally. Despite this, minimum wages have largely been stagnant in apparel manufacturing economies. Governments have limited or no capacity to respond due to economic weakness, high indebtedness and political turmoil. Our report displays minimum wages in low-cost apparel manufacturing countries in Asia, from January 2015 to May 2022, in local currency and US$ terms. A 6-year comparison is available in local currency terms, 2015 US$ terms, and nominal US$ terms. Minimum wages in China are also displayed.

EU clothing imports continued to surge on most markets in the second quarter. However, imports stayed below pre-pandemic levels on a series of European markets. Polyester Fiber & Yarn Price Comparison (Monthly)
Polyester fiber prices fell in September with margins declining at spinning mills in China and India, however. Pakistani yarn producers benefited from a rebound in their prices. Our monthly report compares polyester staple fiber prices and polyester spun yarn prices in China, India, and Pakistan in both local currency terms and US$ terms. The gross margins of spinners are also calculated. Historical data back to 2007 are available for download.
