8 February 2010 - Cotton prices sharply declined last Friday in New York, over a new rise of the US dollar and a consecutive drop in commodity markets. As international demand shifts to the US crop, prices are falling in India before being boosted by a very strong demand from Pakistan later this year.
1 February 2010 - Cotton prices further fell in the past week in New York, as a result of speculative selling and continued correction on equity and commodity markets. Physical demand is however rebounding from China and other Asian countries and the cotton market may later bottom out, boosted by an expected lack of supply.
25 January 2010 - Cotton prices last week reached a 2-month low, over heavy speculative selling in New York. Physical demand is very strong from spinners with ample supplies from the new crop however putting pressure on international prices. The market is expected sharply rebounding from next March.
18 January 2010 - More speculative selling depressed cotton prices in the last week, in addition to larger available quantities on the physical market. Demand from China was very strong in the first week of the year, but other spinners remain on the sidelines, in anticipation of an additional decrease in cotton prices.
11 January 2010 - Cotton prices heavily fell in the last week in New York, over speculative selling. Prices are also declining on the physical market as merchants have to get some cash, while spinners may now cover their needs at lower rates.
