Polyester fiber and spun yarn prices were relatively stable over the last month in China and Pakistan but jumped to higher levels in India. Our monthly report compares polyester staple fiber prices in China, India and Pakistan, in both local currency and US$ terms. Spun polyester yarn prices are also compared, such as margins of spinners in the three countries. Historical data back to 2007 are available for download.
Polyester spun prices did not really change in China in July while slightly declining in Pakistan and rising in India.
At the same time, staple fiber prices did not move in China and Pakistan while increasing in India.
From a year earlier, polyester prices strongly fell in China with a drop of 21% while they were down 10% in Pakistan and did not change in India.
Spun polyester prices were down 17.6% in China while losing 2.6% in Pakistan and surging 22.7% in India.
As a result, China's competitiveness was further increased over the last 12 months but with very low margins.
