22 June 2010 -- Prices sharly fell in June on the international yarn market, as reflected by our long list of statistical tables, reflecting actual deals made with end users.
Spun yarn prices sharply fell in June, on the international market.
The correction was expected after prices surged in the first months of 2010, over a rebound in demand and a strong increase in cotton and polyester prices.
Demand is now slowed down by seasonal factors with summer holidays looming in Europe and Latin America.
More important, the recent fall in the euro brought back European spinners on the market, including Turkish spinners.
This is more difficult for leading Indian exporters to now sell on the international market.
Anti-dumping duties imposed on certain markets are also limiting Indian exports these days.
Cotton prices were also down in India after restrictions were imposed on cotton lint fibers.
Spinners accepted to lower their prices on the domestic market in order to avoid any governmental tax on their yarn exports.
