20 June 2002 - Levi Strauss Thursday reported a 12% decline in sales for its second quarter ended 26 May. The US group also announced US$81 million in losses, due to closure of six plants.
9 April 2002 - Levi Strauss Monday announced it will close six more US plants, laying off 3,300 employees or 20% of its worldwide workforce.
20 March 2002 - Levi Strauss is still looking for a rebound in sales. World's largest maker of denim apparel reported a 6% decline in revenues for its first quarter fiscal ended 24 February, compared with the same quarter last year.
18 January 2002 - Levi Strauss announced it will close too 'high-cost' factories based in Scotland and will possibly terminate production at several US plants in the near future.
20 June 2001 - US and Japan clothing markets will not recover before next year, Levi Strauss expects. "There are no indications currently that the US or Japanese retail market will recover significantly during the second half of the year," said Philip Marineau, president and CEO of Levi Strauss, one of the largest clothing groups in the world.
