30 September 2009 - Whatever the liberalization of global textile trade, the polyester market is still affected by a series of dumping sanctions. Argentine just announced additional tariffs on polyester fibers from China and the European Union triggered a dumping investigation on polyester high tenacity yarns from China, Korea and Taiwan.
22 January 2009 - A large number of anti-dumping investigations were last year launched by emerging countries on fiber and yarn imports from low-cost suppliers. 11 September 2008 - With the end of US quotas rapidly approaching, there is mounting speculation on potential trade actions targeting US apparel imports from China. We below publish a list of these "post-quota tools" available for the next President and Congress of the United States, including anti-dumping tariffs, anti-subsidy duties and product-specific safeguard actions. The US textile lobby also tries building a coalition with other countries to file an anti-subsidy petition with the WTO.
4 September 2008 - The European Union will not remove anti-dumping duties on imports of polyester staple fibers from China, South Korea and Saudi Arabia. Following a new in-depth investigation, the Commission found that EU PSF production rose in the recent period while its profits declined. As other markets continue imposing additional tariffs on Korean and Chinese PSF, an elimination of EU dumping duties would immediately result in a surge of dumped imports from China and Korea, the Commission concluded.
30 May 2008 - Turkey may launch a safeguard investigation on cotton yarn imports in the coming days after shipments from India and Pakistan surged in the last year. An additional duty would immediately apply on imports from certain supplying countries with other origins being possibly exempted. Although a draft notice was published, the final decision was not yet approved by the Turkish government.
