14 September 2006 - Vietnam's membership this year to the World Trade Organisation will still go ahead even if US Congress does not vote on Permanent Normal Trade Relations. However, US sourcing of textiles could be affected should PNTR not be granted, the US chamber of Commerce has warned. The business community also fears the US could lose out on market access while textile lobbyists continue to push for safeguard measures.
